SIG Security FOCUS-seminar 10 April – Reminder

”Business as Usual 2022”

SIG Security hereby invites all members to a FOCUS seminar, where we will investigate upcoming game-changing metods for management of IT security and information risks. Also, we will get some international views on the IT threat landscape. Since we will have a large number of English-speaking presenters this year, this whole invitation will be in English.

Time and Place:
Time: April 10, 2017, 12:45-19:45
Place: Sheraton Hotel, Tegelbacken 6, Stockholm

This seminar is without cost for members in SIG Security. No show costs 1000 SEK (to cancel attendance contact info@sigsecurity.org). Membership can be requested when booking a seat (350 SEK/year) or see "Bli medlem".

How Blockchain Technology Can Change the Way we Deal with IT Security.

Marta Piekarska is a researcher at Telekom Innovation Laboratories and a security architect at Blockstream, where she focusses on user-informed privacy and security, and applications of blockchain technology beyond cryptocurrency. At Deutsche Telekom she was the lead architect on the Future of Mobile Privacy, a collaboration with Mozilla and Deutsche Telekom improving Firefox OS.

What are the Statistical Methods for Risk Assessment in Other Industries?

William Van Der Merwe is a business developer at Palisade, a supplier of software for statistical calculations of risk. He will show some hands-on examples on how risk is being calculated – even statistically simulated – in the insurance industry and the oil&gas industry.

Why Risk Management Fail (SKYPE session)

Douglas Hubbard, risk analyst of worldwide fame, will deliver some thought-provoking messages about how the IT security industry needs to rethink the way it performs risk assessments. Commonly used methods often result in erroneous or random results, which is made worse by the commitment created by psychological factors in the risk assessment process.

FOKUS-eftermiddag, med eller utan risk…?

FOKUS-eftermiddagen idag löpte på väl med 15 spelande deltagare. Det var ett engagerat gäng som lyssnade till såväl Bengt Bergs, Cybercom, utmanande tankar och kloka ord till att inte bara arbeta med kvalitativa analyser för riskerna, utan även titta på verklighetens statistik. Till att Baris och Martin från PwC stötte spelarna när väl riskspelet kom igång och folk fick vinnarskallen startad.

Glada tillrop, höga betyg och uttryck som ”- Mycket bra övning”, ”- Lärorikt” gör att vi förmodligen kommer göra en liknande övning längre fram.
