Marta Piekarska is a researcher at Telekom Innovation Laboratories and a security architect at Blockstream, where she focusses on user-informed privacy and security, and applications of blockchain technology beyond cryptocurrency. At Deutsche Telekom she was the lead architect on the Future of Mobile Privacy, a collaboration with Mozilla and Deutsche Telekom improving Firefox OS.

William Van Der Merwe is a business developer at Palisade, a supplier of software for statistical calculations of risk. He will show some hands-on examples on how risk is being calculated – even statistically simulated – in the insurance industry and the oil&gas industry.

Douglas Hubbard, risk analyst of worldwide fame, will deliver some thought-provoking messages about how the IT security industry needs to rethink the way it performs risk assessments. Commonly used methods often result in erroneous or random results, which is made worse by the commitment created by psychological factors in the risk assessment process.
